What to Expect on a Sunday at Inside Out Church
Our Sunday service kicks off at 2:30 PM — a perfect time if you're not a morning person! Everyone is welcome, whether you're a regular church-goer, just exploring faith, or you’ve been bribed with the promise of biscuits.
Got kids? Brilliant, bring them along! We’re not bothered by a bit of noise or wriggling. In fact, we consider it a sign of life (and let’s be honest, some of us adults are just as fidgety). So don’t worry, your little ones are truly welcome here.
We know that coming to a new church can feel a bit daunting. What should you wear? Will you have to sing? Will someone make you stand up and introduce yourself? (No, definitely not.) The main thing is: relax. We’re a down-to-earth bunch and we’re just glad you’re here.
This page will hopefully give you a bit of a heads-up on what to expect at Inside Out Church. But honestly? Just come as you are and make yourself at home. We’ll take care of the rest.
What to Expect (Besides Free Chairs and Friendly Faces)
Structure
Our services are reasonably informal. We are not into high ceremony, fancy robes, or smoke machines. Pastor Richard and the other leaders usually wear regular clothes, so no need to dig out your Sunday best unless you want to. No dog collars here, unless someone has accidentally brought their poodle.
We use modern language throughout, so you will not hear any "Thees" or "Thous" unless someone has been watching old movies the night before. The words to the songs are shown on the big screen at the front, so there is no need to bring your own hymnbook unless that is your thing. We will not judge.
Sometimes we stand, sometimes we sit, and sometimes someone forgets and stands too early. If standing is tricky for you, feel free to stay seated. We are just glad you are here.
The Main Talk
At Inside Out Church, the Bible is at the heart of everything we do. We believe it’s not just an old book with good morals, but the living word of God that still speaks powerfully into our everyday lives. Exploring it together is a vital part of what we do, and we love digging into what it means for us here and now.
Our sermons — that’s the talk given by the person leading the service — are Bible-based, practical, and often down-to-earth, with a good dose of real-life honesty. We often make use of media to help bring the message to life, whether that's a short video, a simple PowerPoint presentation, or a powerful image on screen.
Whether you’ve read the Bible for years or are just starting to explore it, or perhaps never read any of it before, our aim is to make the message clear, relevant and full of hope.
Offering (giving)
We don’t pass around a collection bag mid-service — no pressure, no awkward fumbles with loose change. Instead, we leave a basket by the front door. Some people give when they arrive, others on their way out, and quite a few give by standing order — so don’t be surprised if no one’s actually putting anything in the basket.
If you’re visiting, not in a place to give right now, or simply wish not to give, that’s absolutely fine. Just breeze past the basket like a pro. We’re far more interested in having you with us than what’s in your wallet.
So, whether you’re just curious or ready to dive in, we can’t wait to welcome you. No need to overthink it — just show up, be yourself, and leave the rest to us. No secret handshake required! See you soon!
